Police release photos of inside Waterbury home where man says he was hel…

This story and earlier ones brought me to tears. I don’t know what happened to the mother but the stepmother and previously the father and stepmother were allegedly involved.

From stories like these, we should realize the importance of good mothers in the lives of their children. Additionally, we should realize the importance of the neighborhood or village. As the saying goes, “It takes a village..”

It is my hope that now teachers and school staff are even better at recognizing signs of neglect and abuse. It was reported in an earlier report that DFCS responding resulted in the man, then a child, being withdrawn from school. I don’t understand why additional visits were not made, especially after that. (If in fact they were not.) It is also my hope that others – classmates, other parents, neighbors, etc .. will keep their eyes out for signs of abuse and neglect too and ask questions.

I hope this post helps everyone to know that all the sacrifices to see our children physically, spiritually and mentally healthy are worth it. Don’t give up. It certainly reminds me that all the sacrifices I made were worth it for my gifts from God.

Train up a child in the way he (he/she) should go and when he is old he won’t depart from it. That is the call for parents. Provide, love, protect and train up. Remember that Jesus warned about doing otherwise.
