When I look at Van Gogh ‘s painting that there is so much buzz around right now in the Physics community, I can’t help but think about what was popular in art before then. It was so about realism and painting to make things look as they actually are. Thank goodness artists like Monet, Van Gogh etc.. and, who knows who we never got to hear about, didn’t let that stop them from gifting the world with their works of art.
Getting back to the news in Physics that suggests that Van Gogh’s work is not that far off from reality after all. Perhaps he was just seeing what could not be observed with the naked natural eye.
I hope to check out a local Van Gogh experience exhibit some time soon. When I do, I will be sure to post about it.
The article at the link below talks about Van Gogh and the fluid dynamics law that has been discussed along with his painting – The Starry Night.
