Mobile, Manufactured or Modular home. What is the difference?

Now that is the question. These have been seen as options for downsizing, affordable housing in expensive markets, etc … What does this have to do with this blog? Well this is a helpful part. You can get confused by style, price, features and rules at different locations. When it comes to the term tiny house being used with each of these, it gets even more confusing and some people have gotten burned. So let’s keep it simple. A mobile home is mobile, on a permanently attached carrier and built before 1976. A manufactured home is built after that date. A modular home is built off site, in one or more sections, and put together on site on a foundation. These could be different types of foundations based on manufacturer requirements. These factors, not price or quality build, distinguish between home types. There can be some pricey and some less so. Regardless, if it’s your house, make it home and enjoy it.
